Opportunity

FCA is seeking an Overnight weekend Counselor for our in Nassau County. This high-autonomy leadership role drives operations, manages staff, and fosters a trauma-informed therapeutic milieu at our Nassau Haven and Walkabout Transitional Residences. It provides an optimized platform to execute youth-centric crisis interventions and establish regulatory mastery in human services. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Culture Architecture

• Milieu Modeling: Model trauma-informed interactions and implement.
• Collaborative Community: Co-facilitate weekly house meetings alongside clinical staff to foster resident autonomy and accountability.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Systemic Oversight: Guarantee operational alignment with federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks and funding mandates.
• Crisis Mastery: Manage emergency readiness by anchoring the on-call rotational system to resolve critical incidents.
• Continuum of Care: Optimize staffing patterns, coordinate shifts, and provide direct coverage to maintain milieu safety.

Strategic Operations & Fiscal Stewardship

• Administrative Governance: Oversee programmatic fiscal workflows, auditing petty cash, credit card reconciliations, and safety reports.
• Resource Optimization: Streamline procurement of program provisions, therapeutic supplies, and recreational assets to elevate operations.
• Adaptive Leadership: Execute strategic administrative tasks and programmatic adjustments as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in human services or social work preferred.
• Experience: 2-4 years of progressive experience within youth residential systems or adolescent care environments.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and crisis-de-escalation skills to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Mobility: Valid Driver's License with a safe driving history for cross-site leadership.
• Technical: Proficiency with MS Office suites and behavioral health data tracking applications.

Family and Children's Association (FCA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Residential Counselor to join our Residential Program. The Residential Counselor will support adolescents with emotional impairments at our community residence located in West Hempstead, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This role plays a vital part in promoting personal growth, stability, and well-being for the youth in our care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support residents in completing daily living activities, promoting independence and accountability.
• Oversee and assist with the day-to-day operations of the residence to ensure a safe and structured environment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date program documentation, including petty cash, resident sign-outs, timesheets, receipts, and activity logs.
• Provide timely and appropriate crisis intervention to address and de-escalate emergency situations.
• Monitor and manage residents' medication administration in accordance with program policies and procedures.
• Transport residents to appointments and activities as needed, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with adolescents
• Ability to ascend/descend stairwells.
• Must be able to participate in sports activities with the residents.
• Valid New York State driver's license with a demonstrated safe and responsible driving record.
