PEIMS SPECIALIST

Job Title: PEIMS SPECIALIST Salary Block: Admin Professional Pay Grade 1

Reports To: PEIMS Coordinator Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 226 Days

Under the direction of the department's leadership staff, the PEIMS Specialist is responsible collecting, auditing, and reporting of the District's PEIMS and Texas Student Data System. Works in constant communication and coordination with District & Campus administrators, staff, campus personnel, State and Federal agencies such as the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). Coordinates the student information system (SIS) including the training of staff and maintaining data integrity. Provides accurate and efficient data for district and state reporting, funding and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Information Systems (preferred)
• Minimum 3-years direct experience with Texas Education Agency (TEA) Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS), student accounting and reporting
• Demonstrated depth in data collection, preparation, analysis and reporting.
• Detailed knowledge of computer, spreadsheets, database systems and other business management software, systems and report generation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with a wide-ranging audience utilizing various office management systems and software.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the district and with cross-functional teams and exercise independent judgment and discretion in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
• TASBO Certification (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of TEA PEIMS guidelines and Texas Student Data System (TSDS)
• Demonstrated skills in organization, planning, coordinating, implementing comprehensive data collection and staff development
• Solid understanding of student information systems (SIS), data integrity, user support and information management
• Ability to clearly define, communicate and validate business processes, interpret policy, procedures, federal and state reporting requirements
• Skilled in researching, analyzing and interpreting data and writing reports
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize to ensure data submissions are accurate and timely met
• Personnel management knowledge and experience
• Evident focus on customer service initiatives, rigor and discipline, teamwork, collaboration, personal and professional responsibilities, staff development and training
• Demonstrated proficiency in manipulating, maintaining and interpreting data in various formats
• In-depth understanding of computer and networking standards, practices, data security and applications
• Ability to analyze, pay attention to detail, and problem solve
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in the functional aspects of assigned system/software applications for identification and problem resolution.
• Agility to learn new systems, software applications and adapt to change
• Proven initiative, flexibility, and ability to manage workload and achieve results
