Travel NICU RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,820-$1,910
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Nursing Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Facility Setting: Community hospital with a Level III NICU
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; approximately 36 hours per week
• Scheduling: Block scheduling
• Weekend Coverage: Required; approximately 26 weekend shifts during the contract
• Patient Population: Neonates and infants
• Unit Capacity: Approximately 12 beds with a daily census of about 10 patients
• Orientation: 16 hours, including required learning modules

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; license must be in hand before the start date
• At least 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience
• Previous experience in a Level III NICU or higher
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Current BLS certification
• Current NRP and advanced NRP certification
• Experience caring for neonates at varying acuity levels, including premature infants and infants requiring complex respiratory support
• Experience documenting in an electronic health record (EHR); Epic experience strongly preferred
• Current influenza vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to applicable policy
• Availability to meet pre-employment documentation, laboratory, and compliance requirements within designated timelines

Travel NICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants
• Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
• Support high-risk deliveries and provide stabilization and ongoing care for newborns requiring intensive monitoring
• Manage neonatal respiratory support, including bubble CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ventilators, oscillators, nitric oxide, and other oxygen delivery systems as indicated
• Care for patients with respiratory distress, sepsis, seizure disorders, neonatal abstinence syndrome, hyperbilirubinemia, and other complex neonatal conditions
• Administer medications, blood products, IV vasopressors, insulin, antibiotics, surfactants, and other therapies according to orders and established protocols
• Perform and monitor neonatal procedures and devices, including PICC lines, UACs, UVCs, arterial lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and central lines
• Provide enteral feedings by bottle, breast, or gavage and support breastfeeding and breast milk handling practices
• Perform blood glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, phototherapy management, thermoregulation, and developmental care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans in the electronic health record
• Educate and support patients' families while collaborating with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, physical therapy, and other support teams
• Participate in required weekend coverage and maintain flexibility for the needs of the NICU
