JV Girls Basketball Assistant Coach

Summary Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for the Junior Varsity Girls Basketball team. This seasonal position is ideal for someone passionate about developing young athletes and fostering a positive team environment. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to implement training programs, enhance player skills, and promote sportsmanship and teamwork among the players. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies. Provide individual and team instruction to enhance players’ skills and understanding of the game. Help organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and team meetings. Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to support their development. Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship. Maintain communication with players, parents, and school administration regarding team matters. Assist in the development and implementation of conditioning and training programs. Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Attend all scheduled games and practices, providing support and guidance during competitions. Collaborate with the Head Coach to evaluate team performance and identify areas for improvement. Requirements Previous coaching experience or playing experience in basketball at the high school level or higher. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to effectively work as part of a coaching team and collaborate with other staff members. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Availability to attend all practices and games, typically held after school and on weekends. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred but not required; training may be provided.
