Join our Rex Inpatient Rehab Services team as a Speech/Language Pathologist II in our acute care setting. This FridayMonday position plays a vital role in supporting our weekend operations and ensuring exceptional patient care.
In this role, you'll help coordinate weekend scheduling across occupational, physical, and speech therapy; support patient throughput; collaborate closely with teammates; and provide high?quality, hands?on patient care.
We're seeking a clinician with five years of experience, including at least one year in acute care, who is ready to bring strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and a team?focused mindset to a dynamic weekend environment.
The Speech Pathologist II serves as a clinical specialist and subject matter expert in diagnosis and intervention management of communication, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. Employees in this classification provide evidence-based evaluation, consultation, and skilled treatment and instruction to patients and caregivers. The clinician participates in annual continuing education and provides departmental and organizational in-services to enhance personal and peer knowledge of evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Completes speech lang pathologist documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines. Manage daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines.
- Administers advanced evaluation and diagnostic testing and analysis, establishes a plan of care that consists of current and advanced techniques and subsequent modification to accomplish patient goals; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines. Assists with onboarding of new staff by completing clinical orientation and competency verification.
- Develops, coordinates, and evaluates specialized programs for specific clinical service areas; engages in research and quality improvement initiatives for the clinical service team and department. Serves as an interdisciplinary liaison.
- Provides clinical education, precepting and mentoring of students, fellows, and other disciplines; participates in competency verification and evaluates the learner's performance. Develops best practices and goals in compliance with departmental and organizational standards.
- Serves as resource to North Carolina government departments and statewide health professionals in specialty areas; Presents at local (university/hospital) or state level conferences; Participates in community outreach screening and educational events and career promotion efforts.
- Demonstrates leadership attributes, advocates for the profession and facilitates change, contributes to the professional development of others, promotes initiatives, and exemplifies quality service provision.
Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Speech-Language Pathology certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Professional Experience Requirements: Five (5) years of experience in the field of Speech-Language Pathology.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: Advanced level clinical skills as evidenced by specialty certifications, additional training and/or expertise in a given clinical specialty. Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight; can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
