Job Summary

The role of the VP/Fraud Mitigation and Recovery is to lead the institution’s efforts to detect, prevent, investigate, and recover from fraudulent activities. This role oversees a team of Fraud Mitigation and Recovery Specialists, develops and implements fraud prevention strategies, ensures regulatory compliance, and collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to protect the organization and its customers from financial loss.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. FRAUD PREVENTION & DETECTION

• Develop and implement fraud mitigation strategies and detection systems.
• Monitor financial transactions and account activity for suspicious behavior.
• Evaluate and deploy fraud detection tools and technologies.

1. INVESTIGATION & RECOVERY

• Lead investigations into suspected fraud incidents, including internal and external cases.
• Maintain detailed documentation of fraud cases and investigation outcomes.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee recovery efforts and restitution of misappropriated funds.

1. TEAM LEADERSHIP

• Manage and mentor a team of Fraud Mitigation and Recovery Specialists.
• Conduct performance reviews, training, and professional development.
• Ensure team adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and escalation protocols .

1. RISK ASSESSMENT & CONTROLS

• Assess vulnerabilities in current processes and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams to strengthen controls.
• Stay informed on emerging fraud trends and regulatory changes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage change and lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in fraud detection software and data analysis tools.
• Experience with banking systems (e.g., FIS ,Fiserv, Jack Henry) and digital tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Bank policies and procedures, New Accounts, Treasury Services products and solutions including, but not limited to: Branch Operations, Remote Deposit, ACH Origination, Wire Transfers, Positive Pay, Sweeps, and other digital offerings
• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to train, draft reports and correspondence in an articulate and professional manner to clients and teammates
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and banking systems
• Ability to work with little to no supervision while functional in role

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
