About the Role: The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as specimen collection. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with APC's and other healthcare staff. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare team. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred. Proficiency in specimen collection techniques. Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures. Additional certifications such as CPR or First Aid. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working alongside APC's or in a clinical healthcare setting. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories. Assist healthcare providers, during medical procedures and examinations. Perform proper protocols and safety standards. Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling. Sterilize medical instruments (if applicable) and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms to comply with health regulations. Answer phones, schedule patient appointments, and manage patient flow within the clinic. Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health systems as required. Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers. Skills: The required skills for a Medical Assistant are essential for performing clinical tasks accurately and safely on a daily basis. Proficiency with medical instruments and sterilization ensures that all equipment is properly maintained to prevent infection and support patient safety. Taking vital signs are routine responsibilities that require precision and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, including answering phones and coordinating with APC's, facilitate smooth patient interactions and efficient clinic operations.
