GENERAL STATEMENT
OF JOB:
The Assistant Principal (BOCES) coordinates, supports, and manages specialized educational programs for multiple component school districts. The Assistant Principal (BOCES) assists the Principal in providing instructional leadership, operational management, and administrative oversight. This role focuses on implementing specialized student programming, managing multi-disciplinary teams (teachers, therapists, behavior specialists), ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with component school districts to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

EMPLOYMENT:
• Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, building-level administrative assignment.

SUPERVISES: Faculty and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS,
EXPERIENCE AND
COMPETENCIES:
• NYS certification as a School Building Leader is required.
• NYS Certification in Special Education title is required
o Experience with the New York State Alternate Assessment and Middle School Level experience preferred.
• Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience in the area of Special Education is required,
o Elementary and Middle School experience preferred
o Involvement with Autism Training preferred
• Successful record in the planning, development and assessment of PBIS
• Successful record of service as teacher is required.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and human relations skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide leadership and supervision to Salt Point Center programs at Dutchess BOCES.
2. Exercise sound judgment and appropriate discretion in the administration of professional duties.
3. Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations related to student discipline.
4. Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
5. Facilitate communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
6. Implement policies, procedures and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
7. Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
8. Manage a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, arrivals/departures etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
9. Oversee the training and implementation of Crisis Intervention Protocols.
10. Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
11. Work with other administrators and participate in the recruitment, orientation and induction, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and support staff assigned to Salt Point Center.
12. Serve as the Extended School Year School Principal
13. Perform other administrative and/or supervisory duties as assigned.

EVALUATION : The Assistant Principal's performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal

SALARY : $105,000 - $117,000
