Nurse Practitioners (NPs) Opportunity

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to provide expert OB/GYN healthcare services to patients at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). The NPs will conduct physical exams, take health histories, provide prenatal and postnatal care, prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and provide education and support on women's health issues. This role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff in a team-based environment focused on women's reproductive health.

General duties include providing services within the scope of privileges granted by the MTF, fulfilling tasks as defined by the contract and PWS, maintaining documentation, following safety protocols, and upholding standards of care.

Specific duties involve conducting detailed health assessments and medical histories, providing comprehensive prenatal and gynecological care, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic gynecologic conditions, ordering and interpreting lab results, imaging, and diagnostic tests, educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, collaborating with OB/GYN physicians on patient management, participating in performance improvement and peer review processes, documenting care in MHS Genesis and other electronic health systems, and providing clinical guidance to support personnel.

Qualifications include a master's degree in nursing, graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, certified Nurse Practitioner (Women's Health or related certification preferred), recent experience providing OB/GYN or women's health care, and a current, active, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in any U.S. state or territory. Skills and abilities include expertise in women's health, ability to perform assessments and manage gynecological conditions, competency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems, strong communication and patient education skills, and a team-oriented mindset with adaptability for military clinical settings.

The schedule involves services provided Saturday through Sunday, 06002000, shifts ranging from 8.5 to 12 hours, not exceeding 90 hours per 2-week period, and must be available to work more than 40 hours per week.

The work environment is a clinical setting at a military hospital, outpatient OB/GYN department, fast-paced, collaborative, structured according to military health systems.

Immunization requirements include Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, TDAP, seasonal influenza, tuberculosis screening, and must complete NAVMED 6260/91 or DHA-approved health screening.

Security requirements include passing a background check and credentialing (up to 90 days processing).
