Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and technically proficient Secondary ICT Teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Information and Communication Technology curriculum that equips students with essential digital literacy, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills. The teacher will guide students in understanding core concepts in computer science, digital applications, and responsible technology use, while fostering creativity and innovation. The primary aim is to prepare students to thrive in a technology-driven world and to pursue further studies or careers in related fields.

Core Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Development and Instruction

Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that are rigorous, engaging, and aligned with applicable state or national standards as well as the school’s educational mission.

Teach a broad range of ICT topics, including but not limited to computer systems, programming, data management, digital communication, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

Integrate computational thinking and problem-solving methodologies across the curriculum.

Employ a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on projects, coding exercises, and collaborative group work, to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student body, including English Language Learners and students with varying levels of prior technological proficiency.

2. Assessment and Evaluation

Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor and measure student learning outcomes.

Evaluate student work—including programming assignments, project portfolios, presentations, and written reports—and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and classroom conduct.

Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and to support continuous improvement in student achievement.

3. Classroom and Laboratory Environment

Establish and maintain a classroom and computer laboratory environment that is safe, orderly, and conducive to focused learning.

Communicate and enforce clear expectations regarding student behaviour, academic integrity, and responsible use of digital resources.

Ensure the proper care and maintenance of ICT equipment and software, and coordinate with technical support staff as needed.

4. Student Support and Mentorship

Serve as an academic advisor to an assigned group of students, providing guidance on academic progress and personal development.

Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student performance, progress, and areas for improvement.

Identify students requiring additional academic or technical support and, where appropriate, refer them to relevant support services.

5. Professional Development and Collaboration

Collaborate with colleagues within the ICT department and across other subject areas on interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

Participate actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and school-wide events.

Engage in ongoing professional learning to remain current with pedagogical approaches, educational technology, and developments in the field of computer science and digital literacy.

Qualifications and Requirements
Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education Technology, or a related field.

Experience

A minimum of three years of successful full-time teaching experience at the secondary level, preferably in an ICT or computer science context.
