Assistant Prep Cook / Porter — Bagel Boss Wilmington
Location : Wilmington, NC – Pier 33 Building
Schedule : Full-time — early morning shift, typically wrapped up by early afternoon
Pay : Competitive, plus tips
About the Role
Bagel Boss Wilmington is looking for an Assistant Prep Cook/Porter to join our small, close knit team and help keep our kitchen running smoothly from open to close. You'll serve as the right hand to our Lead Prep Cook, ready to step in and cover prep, salad, and spread duties whenever needed. If you take pride in a clean, organized workspace and enjoy supporting a team that gets it right every morning, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Arrive early to assist with prepping fresh ingredients, spreads, toppings, and salads
- Step in as backup to the Lead Prep Cook, covering prep, salad-making, and spread duties as needed
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and prep equipment throughout the shift
- Clean and maintain the kitchen, prep area, and store, including floors, counters, and equipment
- Restock supplies, ingredients, and paper goods as needed
- Support the prep and kitchen team with basic prep tasks as directed
- Follow all health and safety standards for cleanliness and food handling
What We're Looking For
- Comfortable with early-morning hours (this is an early-start role — but early finish!)
- No experience required — we're happy to train the right person with a strong work ethic
- Reliable, punctual, and able to keep up during busy periods
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25-50 lbs (bags, boxes, supply cases, etc.)
- Food handler's certification a plus (or willingness to obtain one)
