Field Property Claims Adjuster: Tarrant County, TX

Farmers is an insurance company providing property and casualty coverage. We are seeking a Field Property Adjuster to conduct investigations, assess damages, and negotiate settlements. Workplace: Remote field role with travel to policyholder homes. Hybrid work environment: at least 3 days in office, up to 2 days virtual for those within 50 miles of the corporate office. Candidates must reside in the Greater Tarrant County, TX area to be considered. Key Responsibilities Conduct virtual and on‑site investigations by visiting policyholder residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements. Use claims‑handling software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to determine damage and write estimates in a paperless environment. Evaluate and report potential subrogation opportunities. Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies. Perform duties independently, with work directly impacting management outcomes. Represent the company in public interactions, maintaining a professional demeanor consistent with management standards. Engage regularly with a variety of stakeholders—policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant parties. Use strong customer‑service skills to negotiate with policyholders and settle claims. Perform additional duties as assigned. Promote safety at all times and comply with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in company manuals. Travel away from residence for catastrophe work, typically 23 days, and commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments per year (not a CAT‑specific role). Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Excellent customer‑service experience, preferably in a retail environment. Construction or insurance experience highly desirable. Excellent communication skills—both oral and written. Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, Outlook; proficient with smartphones and applications. Eager to learn about insurance policies and property damage coverage to apply coverage to losses. Outgoing personality that enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people. Valid driver’s license and bondable; final candidates subject to a motor‑vehicle‑record background check. Climb ladders to inspect roofs and work on rooftops multiple times per day. Work in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces. Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams. Physical Actions & Environment Bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, walking, seeing. Speaking (English), reading (English), writing (English), key entering. Exposure to uncontrolled outdoor conditions, excessive noise, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, dangerous areas, respiratory‑affecting environments such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, oils, smoke, soot, or poor ventilation.
