Details PACU unit within a teaching hospital setting Supports pre-op, PACU, and extended care/post-op patient care Patient ratio of 1:2 Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours with variable start times (approximately 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM) 13-week assignment length Ability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed, within a 75 mile radius Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active CA RN license required BSN required Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS Minimum 5 years of RN experience required Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Teaching hospital experience required Knowledge of airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management required Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and IV starts/maintenance CCRN or CPAN certification preferred 2 years of critical care experience preferred Two references from most recent employer required for consideration Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review Additional Information Provide comprehensive perianesthesia care across pre-op, Phase I PACU, Phase II recovery, and extended care units Support a variety of surgical cases including ENT, general, GYN, urology, ophthalmology, and robotic procedures Manage patients recovering from general and gynecological anesthesia Perform pre/post-op care duties including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, 12-lead EKG/ECG, and urinary catheterization May assist with central line care, port access/management, and arterial line management All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to start; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work together on the same unit American Traveler Job ID P-746697.
