An opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter with experience in educational settings. This travel position involves providing interpreting services within schools to support effective communication for students who use sign language.


Location:

• Travel assignments based in Orono, ME, with opportunities to support multiple school environments

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Support classroom instruction and extracurricular activities by interpreting spoken and signed information
• Adapt to different classroom settings and collaborate with educators to ensure accessibility
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interpreting activities

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal training or certification preferred
• Experience working as an interpreter in K-12 educational environments
• Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom dynamics
• Ability to travel to various school locations as assigned
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
