Job Overview:

Pay Range: $16.00hr - $21.00hr

Requirement/Must Have:

• Minimal data entry skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Understanding of specimen types related to test(s) ordered.
• Knowledge of clinical department requirements regarding specimen types, quantity, handling, and delivery.
• Understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change and pursuit of continuous improvement.
• Commitment to fulfilling internal and external customer requirements.
• Willingness to actively contribute to a team-based working environment.
• Ability and willingness to support department goals regarding staffing needs on weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Previous experience in a production environment preferred.
• Familiarity with mainframe computers preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general support functions within the Technical Operations Department.
• Execute manual functions including sorting, racking, and pickup/delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
• Manage specimen storage and centrifugation.
• Perform aliquoting and potentially operate sorters in archive mode.
• Identify problems with specimen types or missing information and resolve or forward for resolution.
• Research test order information using translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
• Meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
• Complete all required written documentation legibly and within assigned time frames.
• Maintain a neat and clean work area in compliance with 5S workplace standards.
• Work in a biohazard environment in compliance with all safety requirements.
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a production environment.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
• Adhere to core values, safety, compliance, and work process policies.
