Travel Nursing Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel contract
• Location: San Francisco, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200–$2,320
• Start Date: November 17, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 14 weeks
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Options: Days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Unit: 24-bed high-acuity Neuro ICU
• Patient Population: Adults with neurosurgical, neurological, neurovascular, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord conditions
• Typical Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Documentation: Epic
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Float Expectations: May float to other qualified units or nearby facilities based on operational needs

Travel RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent acute-care nursing experience, including Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU, or a comparable critical-care setting
• Current Registered Nurse license in California, held in hand before the start of the assignment
• BSN required
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Recent travel nursing experience required
• Teaching-hospital experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and commitment to safe, patient-centered care

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill adult neurological and neurosurgical patients
• Assess and manage patients experiencing acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, respiratory failure, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Monitor and care for patients with external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, Camino BOLT systems, EEG, CRRT, ventilators, and fresh tracheostomies
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, ports, PICC lines, lumbar drains, and other invasive therapies
• Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, sedative, paralytic, and other critical-care infusions according to clinical protocols
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, TPN, and other prescribed therapies
• Perform and monitor procedural sedation, suctioning, IV starts, EKGs, and ventilator-related interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, social services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and promote continuity of care through effective handoff communication
