Senior Civil - Site Engineer

Description Leidos is seeking a senior Civil - Site Engineer to join our civil engineering department and work on a variety of electric utility projects. The role involves civil design engineering for both large and small‑scale utility projects, with opportunities for commercial/industrial site development, roadway corridor development, and mass grading. The senior engineer will perform design reviews, develop and mentor junior staff, contribute to bids and proposals, and serve as a responsible engineer on main client projects. Responsibilities include overseeing design packages, ensuring quality control, and conducting site visits to client substation facilities. The role may require occasional travel for client meetings and industry events. Preferred office locations are Charlotte, NC; Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; and Portland, OR. The following locations are also considered: Hendersonville, TN; Walled Lake, MI; Framingham, MA; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL. A hybrid or fully remote arrangement may also be considered. Key Tasks Land development permitting including NPDES, stormwater management and related regulations and permit requirements Research additional site data from various sources Develop site layout, grading, and drainage design Review civil drawings (site plan, grading, drainage) in coordination with structural and physical layout drawings Stormwater modeling and design Erosion and sediment control design Access road design Utility coordination and design Retaining wall layout and design Documentation of all supporting calculations Quantity take‑offs Cost estimation of project designs and construction cost estimation Construction drawings Construction specifications Construction observation and field engineering Coordination and collaboration with other design disciplines Required Experience & Education B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field Minimum of 4 years of directly applicable civil‑site design experience P.E. license preferred Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software (preferred) and/or MicroStation software (considered) Experience with Hydraflow, HyroCAD, Stormwise (ICPR4), and other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling & design programs Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, and other general software tools Strong analytical and technical writing skills Team player with effective communication skills with clients and staff Ability to execute projects and manage clients with limited supervision Willingness to travel up to 25% Authorized to work in the U.S. Commitment to Non‑Discrimination All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
