Assistant General Manager

Compensation: $65,000–$70,000 base salary depending on experience, plus bonus potential up to $6,500, along with generous perks and benefits.

What the job actually is

You are the GM's second in command and the person the building runs on when they are off. Practically, that means four things:

1.      Run shifts on your own. You open, you close, you make the calls. Ticket times, floor coverage, the guest who is unhappy at table 14 — yours to handle without checking first.

2.      Learn the P&L for real. You will own pieces of labor and cost of goods, read the daily and weekly numbers with your General Manager, and understand why they moved before period-end

3.      Develop the team under you. Train new Squad members, run one-on-ones, spot the server who could be a trainer. The bench you build is what makes you promotable.

4.      Hold the standards . Food quality, hospitality, cleanliness, and safety across breakfast, brunch, and lunch. You are on the floor with guests, not hiding in the office. You report to your General Manager

What we are looking for

• 2+ years managing a restaurant or hospitality — or a strong shift lead or service manager who has been ready for the next level.
• You want the GM seat. This is a development role. Tell us in your application where you want to be in two years.
• A people-first leader. You develop people rather than replace them.
• Detail that shows up on the floor . You notice the dusty ledge, the slow ticket, the server who is having a bad day.
• Clear communication, in person and in writing.
• 21+ (we run a full bar), ServSafe and Food Manager's certification (or willing to get both — we pay for it), and comfort with basic computer and scheduling tools.

Who we are:

Hash Kitchen started in 2015 as one Phoenix restaurant built on a simple idea: breakfast deserves a chef. Chef Joey Maggiore grew up in his father Tomaso's kitchens and brought that cooking to the daypart nobody was taking seriously, breakfast and lunch.

Eleven years later we are across Arizona, Utah, and Texas, and the kitchen has grown with us — breakfast, brunch, and lunch, made from scratch, alongside the build-your-own bloody Mary bar we are known for: house-made mixes, house-infused spirits, and over 50 craft toppings.

We are still a chef-driven restaurant company, running three-day parts in every building. And because we close mid-afternoon, we are proving that a career in restaurants does not have to cost you your nights.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Position requires qualified individuals to see, hear and speak (verbally and audibly). Required to ascend and descend stairs; sit and stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop and kneel. May be required to work outside in various weather conditions. May be required to work on a computer for extended periods of time, including viewing the screen, using a mouse, manipulating a keyboard with hands, and reaching with arms. May be asked to drive or travel by car, air, or other transportation for business purposes. Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced working environment. Must be able to report to work responsive, free from sedatives, and in a non-sedative state. Must disclose prescribed and/or over-the-counter pharmaceuticals that may impair or affect the ability to perform the job's essential functions. Natural and regular stressors occur on the job.
