6 Cooks needed for temporary, full-time employment at MD & MD Restaurant Group, Inc.

Cooks keep kitchen clean and organized; prepare sauces and special recipes; take inventory; sanitize and manage the cooler and freezer and keep check of temperatures often. The phrase “prepare sauces and special recipes” in the job description refers to the assembly and preparation of standard, proprietary menu items featuring international flavors. The workers will not create, design, or alter recipes, nor do they exercise independent culinary creativity. The special recipes refer to following standard recipe cards to assemble quick-service international items such as pre-combined and pre-measured spice blends with proteins or assembling ingredients into standard dishes. The preparation of sauces involves mixing pre-packaged ingredients, combining pre-made bases or reheating bulk sauces provided by our supplier to maintain consistent flavor in dishes. We operate a high-volume, premium fast-casual/quick service establishment specializing in a variety of accessible international cuisines. It is not a full-service, sit down or fine dining restaurant. The food prepared consists of standard, quick-preparation international dishes such as quick-serve bowls, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. All food preparation is designed for speed, consistency and volume requiring basic assembly, portioning, and cooking techniques that utilize a microwave, grill, oven, and fryer. The position does not entail advanced culinary expertise or gourmet, from-scratch cooking. No education or prior work experience is required. Must have the ability to stand on feet for many hours. Employer will offer at least 40 hours of work per week, Sunday through Saturday, between the hours of 10:30 AM and 9:30 PM, with varying shifts and varying days off. Employees must be willing to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary. Workers are needed to begin work on 10/1/2026 through 6/30/2027.

Work will be performed in Columbia, Kentucky.

Workers will be paid no less than $14.56 per hour; returning workers and workers with more experience may be paid higher wage rates up to $15.00 per hour. Overtime hours may vary, depending on weather or other conditions, and will be paid no less than $21.84 per hour. Overtime for returning workers and workers with more experience may be paid at higher rates up to $25.38 per hour.

The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due.

Workers will be paid biweekly, every other Friday by check.

The employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law.

If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $16.78 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.

Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees).

The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.

The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
