Activities Assistant Monticello, GA, US 6 days ago Requisition ID: 1262 The Retreat Nursing Home | Monticello, Georgia The Retreat Nursing Home is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dependable Part-Time Activities Assistant to join our team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with older adults, being creative, and helping make each day meaningful and enjoyable for our residents. The Activities Assistant works closely with the Activities Director to provide recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities designed to promote residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being. Key Responsibilities Assist with planning, organizing, and leading individual and group activities for residents. Encourage and assist residents with participation in activities based on their interests, abilities, and preferences. Lead activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, social events, parties, and other recreational programs. Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, resident outings, and community activities. Visit and provide individual activities to residents who are unable or prefer not to participate in group programs. Assist residents to and from scheduled activities as needed. Help prepare activity areas, supplies, decorations, and equipment. Develop positive relationships with residents and encourage social interaction and engagement. Observe residents' participation and communicate changes, concerns, or preferences to the Activities Director and appropriate staff. Assist with maintaining required activity participation records and documentation. Support Resident Council activities and resident-centered programs as assigned. Help maintain activity supplies and ensure activity areas remain clean, organized, and safe. Follow resident rights, confidentiality, infection prevention, and facility safety requirements. Work collaboratively with nursing, dietary, social services, and other departments to support residents' overall quality of life. Assist with other duties related to the Activities Department as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with older adults or in a long-term care setting is preferred but not required. Friendly, energetic, patient, and compassionate personality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Creative and comfortable leading activities and interacting with groups. Dependable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
