Regional Operations Manager

The role The Regional Operations Manager leads day-to-day operations in our Irvine, Century City and Del Mar offices, so our attorneys can focus on clients and growing their practices. Reporting to the firm’s Director of Operations, you’ll bring one consistent way of working to all three offices. You’ll also make sure support scales ahead of growth and keep California compliant, working in close partnership with the managing partners in each office. This is a hands-on leadership role spanning operations, people and finance. It suits a leader who delegates routine tasks, makes decisions on facts, and earns trust quickly with attorneys and staff. What you’ll do Lead and develop the California support staff, including assignments, scheduling, coverage, performance and training. Track workload and utilization, and rebalance staffing across offices and practice groups. Apply firm-wide standards for PTO, attendance, remote work, time entry and billing consistently, while adapting delivery to each office’s needs. Serve as the on-site HR partner, working with the Director of HR on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations and California employment compliance. Onboard lateral attorneys and their teams so they’re productive from day one. Manage the California operating budget with Finance, and monitor time entry, billing deadlines and expenses. Oversee facilities, vendors, office services and technology support in all three offices. Report monthly on staffing, turnover, overtime and spending. What you bring 8+ years of operations leadership in a law firm or professional services firm, including 5+ years supervising staff across more than one office. Experience building or standardizing operating processes across offices. Hands-on HR experience, including recruiting, employee relations and leave administration. Working knowledge of California employment law, including wage and hour, meal and rest periods, exempt classification and leaves. Budgeting experience and comfort with operational data. Experience supervising hybrid or remote staff. A record of fact-based decisions and of holding people to a standard without damaging relationships. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Preferred: law firm experience; Aderant, Paycom or comparable systems; experience onboarding lateral attorneys; CLM, SHRM or PHR certification. FBFK is an equal opportunity employer.
