Required credentials to be considered for this position:

• Ordinary Seaman Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) Issued by the US Coast Guard
• Current US Coast Guard medical certificate
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Summary: Non-supervisory, certificated USCG welder. Performs welding, brazing, cutting, fabrication and metal working as directed by ship captain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The position requires an Ordinary Seaman MMC. Uses various welding equipment and materials to repair existing metal structures or fabricate new ones as necessary. Structures include but are not limited to ship hull, piping, pumps, winches, motors, shafts, weirs, and metal superstructures.
• Must be able to read simple plans, schematics, or blueprints and use measurement tools such as squares, levels, tapes, electronic gauges, and other tools to fabricate or repair with precision.
• Must be able to work with various gas or electrical equipment and weld materials including steel, aluminum, and other metals.
• Position has designated security duties as part of deck crew. Tours are 28 days on, with 2 paid travel days and 26 days off.

Qualifications:

• Credentials: Ordinary Seaman MMC with current USCG medical certificate. Employee must have security awareness training as part of deck crew.
• Language Ability: ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from manager and internal team.
• Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Physical Presence: Regular and predictable physical presence on the ship is an essential qualification for this position due to the importance of the team-related aspects of the essential duties, the aggressive timeframes under which the employee will operate, and the need for face-to-face interaction with manager and crew.
• Ability to travel for 28-day tours, with 2 paid travel days.
