CT Technologist

Pay Range: $20.67-$27.91 per hour, based on experience

Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CT Technologist to perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography equipment.

The CT Technologist is responsible for positioning patients, operating CT scanners and related equipment, acquiring high-quality cross-sectional diagnostic images, and assisting physicians in the detection, diagnosis, and evaluation of pathology.

This position provides CT services for a diverse patient population, including scheduled patients, inpatients, outpatients, and emergency department patients. The technologist must demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, patient-care abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform CT examinations using established protocols and imaging standards.

Operate CT scanners, power injectors, and post-processing equipment safely and effectively.

Position patients appropriately based on the anatomy being evaluated.

Select appropriate equipment, protocols, and technical factors for each examination.

Adjust imaging protocols when necessary to accommodate individual patient needs.

Produce high-quality diagnostic images through proper positioning and technical execution.

Evaluate completed examinations for diagnostic quality and accuracy.

Maintain a repeat rate at or below applicable national standards.

Perform general radiography examinations as needed.

Obtain thorough and pertinent patient histories and communicate relevant information to the radiologist.

Verify patient identification using appropriate safety procedures.

Explain procedures clearly and professionally to patients to promote comfort and cooperation.

Follow age-specific guidelines when caring for patients.

Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to their needs.

Communicate delays and other relevant information to patients and clinical staff.

Confer with radiologists regarding patient care, imaging protocols, and examination requirements as needed.

Assist radiologists with invasive procedures, including biopsies and abscess drainages.

Record, archive, retrieve, compile, and calculate imaging data as appropriate.

Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic imaging terminology and procedures.

Maintain familiarity with front desk, file room, and related imaging department procedures.

Stay current with new imaging procedures, technology, protocols, and best practices.

Participate in appropriate research and quality improvement activities.

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable safety and regulatory standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Current ARRT registration - Required.

Advanced ARRT certification/registry in Computed Tomography (CT) - Required.

Two-year allied health degree - Required.

At least 2 years of current, full-time experience in both CT and X-ray in a hospital and/or Emergency Department setting - Required.

Strong knowledge of CT and general radiography procedures.

Excellent patient-care and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Knowledge of contrast administration and power injector operation.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic image quality.

Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency and high-pressure situations.

Excellent communication with patients, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Work Environment

This role involves working with a diverse patient population, including emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and scheduled patients. The technologist may encounter patients with acute or complex medical conditions and must be able to provide compassionate, safe, and efficient care.

The position requires the ability to work with CT and radiographic equipment and maintain appropriate radiation and patient-safety practices.
