Behavior Analyst Supervisee

Job Summary

Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Behavior Analyst Supervisee provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services under the ongoing supervision of a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

This role supports the assessment and treatment of socially significant behaviors across a variety of domains. The Supervisee collaborates with caregivers and team members to improve service delivery and build capacity, while adhering to all supervision, licensure, and regulatory requirements.

This position does not include independent clinical practice.

Essential Job functions

Under the supervision of an LBA and/or BCBA, the Behavior Analyst Supervisee will:

  • Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for youth.

  • Support the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans targeting reduction of challenging behaviors and increase of adaptive behaviors.

  • Implement components of individualized behavior plans as part of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Collect, graph, and summarize behavioral data to support data-based decision making.

  • Participate in treatment planning meetings and case reviews.

  • Support skill generalization across home and community environments in collaboration with families and stakeholders.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of behavior management systems and data collection procedures.

  • Prepare documentation in alignment with agency protocols and regulatory requirements for supervisory review and co-signature as required.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of staff training under supervisory guidance.

  • Provide guidance to direct care staff consistent with approved treatment plans and supervisory direction.

  • Participate in required supervision meetings in accordance with BACB and New York State requirements.

  • Therapeutic Foster Care program : On call responsibilities as scheduled.

  • While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Role Limitations

  • May not practice independently.

  • May not finalize, approve, or sign behavior plans without supervisory review and authorization.

  • May not represent themselves as a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) or BCBA.

  • Provide clinical services only under required supervision in accordance with applicable regulations

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree or enrollment in coursework meeting current requirements for certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and New York State licensure.

  • Enrollment in or completion of required supervised fieldwork hours.

Special Requirements

  • Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

In addition to demonstrating the Hillside Professional Competencies of Communicates Effectively , Personal Excellence, Cultural Competence, Builds and Leverages Relationships and Optimizes Decision Making, the following occupational competencies must be demonstrated:

  • Ability to recognize escalated youth behavior and effectively apply the continuum of crisis prevention and intervention through verbal and non-verbal de-escalation skills to reduce risk. This may include the use of protective interventions and physical restraints.

  • Ability to use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct towards all.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends

  • The following physical demands are required:

    • Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours)

    • Occasional standing (up to 1 hour)

    • Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours)

    • Occasional driving (up to 6 hours)

    • Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours)

    • Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)

    • Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs. (community-based staff may be required to lift an empty wheelchair weighing up to 50 lbs.), 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis

    • Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs. approximately 10-100 ft., 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis

  • Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approximately 1-2.5 hrs.)

  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, gases or chemicals is apparent.

  • Protective clothing or equipment as required: close toed shoes; protective shields, universal precaution PPE, and gloves for toileting and food preparation.

  • Ability to change positions as needed.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

May be required to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 and 300 lbs. and guide them safely to the floor. In some circumstances, restraints can last up to 30 minutes and may require repetition as necessary.

$62,500 Minimum pay rate, $75,000 Maximum pay rate, based on experience.
