Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer II or III (level will be based on experience) at our Burbank, CA location. This is an on-site position.

As a Test Engineer at Crane Aerospace and Electronics, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test equipment used to validate aerospace and electronics products. From concept through implementation, you will develop both the software and the hardware required to support test systems, with a strong emphasis on LabVIEW development. In this role, you'll work with a highly experienced engineering team to develop innovative test solutions.

Essential functions include working effectively with all functional groups to achieve product performance and cost targets, supporting continuous process improvement activities, demonstrating proficiency with verbal and written English for technical reports, presentations, analyses, or other communications, understanding, decomposing, and defining product and process requirements to support product development, sustaining and R&D, planning, estimating, prioritizing, and managing work activities to support meeting project schedules and budgets, utilizing experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, utilizing proficient problem-solving processes, documentation, tools and analyses to quickly and effectively identify root cause and corrective actions to technical challenges and/or issue in support of product development and product sustaining assignments, generating and reviewing product development documentation including proposals, technical reports, procedures, correspondence, etc. necessary to satisfy customer and program requirements, being self-directed and motivated while working and communicating effectively within a team environment, mentoring junior engineers and others in the area of expertise (level III), providing support of activities in collaboration with other technical, operations, quality, and business disciplines, designing test equipment hardware and software, selecting and procuring equipment necessary to obtain desired results and accuracy, integrating and/or building automated test systems of high complexity, designing, coding and debugging computer/data acquisition systems necessary for automated testing in National Instruments' LabVIEW, TestStand or similar software, providing design package consisting of written description, detailed wiring and schematics, pictures, component lists, etc., such that test equipment and test systems can be accurately reconstructed; assuring that test data generated is neat, organized, accurate, and archived properly, generating test procedures from specifications, performing calculations to establish test equipment specifications, design margins, test setup, and test limits, supporting production in design of new test equipment and error proofing and upgrade of existing test equipment, providing throughout review of test equipment documents, procedures, design, and providing testability review for product designs.

Minimum qualifications include 3+ years of relevant work experience for Level II and 5+ years of relevant work experience for Level III, a BA or BS Degree in an engineering discipline, and knowledge in hardware design experience including Analog Circuit Design and Digital Circuit Design, ability to read and understand electronic circuit schematic, PIC Microprocessor design, National Instruments Test Equipment knowledge, automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems, software development and verification, product/equipment requirements development, requirements analysis/verification and test procedures development, and configuration management in a regulated environment. Skills/abilities include ability to generate high-quality engineering schematics, diagrams, procedures, LabVIEW Development, TestStand, C#, Python, Visual Studio or similar system-design platforms, SPICE, CADs, Schematic Design and PWB Layout, and Communication Interfaces (e.g., ARINC429, CAN, RS232, I2C...).

Preferred qualifications include experience in a regulated industry and fast-paced environment, National Instruments' LabVIEW certification, proficient in developing LabVIEW, experience with manufacturing environment, and previous Aerospace testing experience.

Working conditions include standard office and lab environment, working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE, may be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes, requires work with small to medium-size hand and power tools, occasional travel to customer and outside test lab facilities for technical interchange meetings, design reviews, product testing support, and to attend technical seminars, may need to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%), standing: 10% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task, sitting: 90% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task, lifting (in pounds): up to 25 pounds, pushing (in pounds): up to 30 pounds, mental/visual: use of computer, calculator, filing cabinets, workspace: cubicle/desk/lab.
