Part-Time Server — Lunch & Dinner

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant · 324 W Water Street, Syracuse, NY 13202 Job Type: Part-time · Pay: $10.70 per hour plus tips · Schedule: Open availability, day and evening shifts

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant is hiring a part-time Server with open availability who can cover both lunch and dinner shifts. This is a hands-on, front-of-house role in a small restaurant: you will be taking care of your tables, greeting and seating guests when the door gets busy, and packing to-go and delivery orders during the rush.

Bartending experience is a plus but not required of this position.

What You'll Do

Table service

• Greet guests and seat guests
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS
• Run food and drinks promptly and check back with tables throughout the meal
• Handle cash, credit, and mobile payments accurately and close out checks
• Address guest questions and concerns quickly and politely, escalating to a manager when needed

Host / front door

• Welcome guests, manage the wait list, and seat parties in balanced rotation
• Answer the phone, take reservations and to-go orders, and give accurate wait times
• Keep the entry area, menus, and host stand clean and presentable

To-go and third-party orders

• Assemble, check, and pack takeout, phone-in, and third-party delivery orders (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub)
• Verify order accuracy, sauces, sides, and utensils before handoff
• Coordinate with the kitchen on timing and communicate with delivery drivers at pickup

Side work and closing

• Roll silverware, stock stations, refill condiments, and restock to-go supplies
• Bus and reset tables between seatings
• Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing side work as assigned
• Follow all food safety, allergen, and sanitation procedures

Schedule and Availability

• Open availability required across both lunch and dinner service
• Weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Approximately [15–25] hours per week, with additional hours available during busy seasons
• Schedules are posted in advance; shift swaps are coordinated through the manager

What We're Looking For

• Reliable and on time — the single most important thing on our team
• Friendly, guest-first attitude and clear communication
• Able to stay organized and keep pace during a busy lunch or dinner rush
• Comfortable with basic math, POS systems, and handling payments
• Prior serving, host, or restaurant experience is a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, not required
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I-9 on your first day

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for the length of a shift
• Carry trays and bus tubs and lift up to 25 pounds
• Bend, reach, and move quickly in a busy kitchen and dining room environment
