Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality care to expecting mothers and newborns in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a commitment to working nights and weekends as needed, with the ability to float within the unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to labor and delivery patients, ensuring adherence to AWHONN guidelines.
• Assess patients' conditions, develop care plans, and implement appropriate interventions for high-risk obstetric cases.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs utilizing advanced fetal monitoring systems.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as per established protocols, including Pitocin and Insulin.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams including OB/GYNs and neonatal providers, available in-house 24/7.
• Assist in surgical procedures as a circulating nurse in the operating room.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families during the labor and delivery process.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring.
• Experience with high-risk obstetrics and triage protocols.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to perform under pressure.

Unit Overview

• The unit consists of 11 labor and delivery beds, 7 antepartum/high-risk beds, and includes 2 operating rooms.
• We maintain a total of 24 postpartum beds and handle approximately 4,000 births per year.
• COVID vaccination is required for all staff members.
• CNAs and surgical techs are available to assist in daily operations.

Work Details

• Full-time position with 12-hour night shifts and a guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend and holiday shifts are required.
• Participation in call or standby rotations is necessary.
• Orientation specific to the unit/department will be provided to ensure a smooth transition.
