Job Description

Aerotek is hiring immediately in Providence, RI! This role offers the opportunity to join a large, nationwide environmental organization as part of a growing team dedicated to safe and efficient handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. As an Environmental Technician, you will work in both warehouse and field settings, supporting environmental remediation and waste management activities while building a long-term career in the environmental field. This position is full time offering competitive pay and benefits!

Responsibilities

• Transport drums of waste safely within the facility and to designated areas.
• Identify and verify drum contents by reading and interpreting labels to determine the type of substance contained.
• Separate hazardous and non-hazardous waste by placing drums in the correct areas of the warehouse according to established procedures.
• Load and offload drums onto and from trucks using proper material handling techniques and equipment.
• Place drums into hoppers in a safe and controlled manner, following all safety protocols.
• Support environmental remediation activities as needed in both warehouse and field environments.
• Perform general labor duties such as sweeping and maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse and surrounding work areas.
• Assist with basic mechanical and troubleshooting tasks related to equipment and material handling, as directed.
• Follow all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements related to environmental waste handling and storage.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and safe operations.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to developing skills and advancing within the environmental field.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of environmental labor experience.
• Experience working in the environmental field, such as environmental science, remediation, or environmental remediation support.
• Ability to perform physically demanding general labor, including lifting, moving, and handling drums and materials.
• Comfort working in both warehouse and field settings, including partial outdoor work.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with mechanical tasks as needed.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to solve problems in the field.
• Ability to read and understand labels and follow detailed instructions for separating hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Strong attitude toward success and a desire to build a long-term career rather than simply perform a job.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work the full scheduled shift from Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus; if not already certified, training and certification will be provided before working in the field.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Experience or coursework in environmental science or related fields is beneficial.
• Experience in construction, warehouse operations, or general labor environments is an advantage.
• Previous exposure to environmental remediation projects is helpful.
• Demonstrated "want to work" mindset and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
• Interest in advancing to higher-level technician roles, such as Technician 2, within approximately 6 to 12 months..

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Providence, RI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
