AI/ML Lead Data Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We have formal training or certification in Data Engineering concepts and at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
• We are highly proficient in Java, Groovy, and Python for data pipelines, image preprocessing, automation scripts, and backend data services.
• We have practical experience with image file processing, especially TIF/PNG handling, multi-page document splitting, format conversion, and OCR/computer vision integration.
• We bring deep experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch for building and monitoring scalable data workflows.
• We have strong expertise in AWS EKS for deploying and operating containerized image processing, OCR, and data pipeline services with Docker and Kubernetes.
• We have advanced knowledge of Oracle databases, including PL/SQL, performance tuning, partitioning, and data modeling for large-scale extracted document data.
• We are familiar with OCR technologies and can build pipelines that consume and structure OCR output for analytics and model training.
• We understand the data needs of deep learning model training, including dataset preparation, annotation management, and feature store integration.
• We have experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• We have a strong grasp of data governance, data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data cataloging in document- and image-heavy environments.
• We demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to guide technical decisions across cross-functional teams.
• Domain expertise in the healthcare industry is preferred.

• We design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and supporting infrastructure for ingesting, processing, and storing large volumes of scanned document images.
• We architect end-to-end data solutions on AWS to move scanned images from source systems through OCR processing, model inference, and downstream extraction and categorization workflows.
• We develop robust image preprocessing and OCR integration pipelines, including TIF/PNG conversion, normalization, resolution enhancement, noise reduction, and batching.
• We build and optimize pipelines that integrate OCR outputs, extracting structured text and metadata and delivering them to databases and analytics platforms.
• We design and manage storage architectures and containerized deployments using Oracle databases and AWS-native storage such as S3 and EFS to catalog, index, and retrieve extracted text, labels, and metadata.
• We drive containerized deployment strategies using AWS EKS to scale image processing microservices, OCR engines, and pipeline components with high availability and fault tolerance.
• We work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to ensure training datasets are curated, versioned, labeled, and accessible through well-structured data pipelines.
• We evaluate and integrate new data technologies and tools to improve throughput, reduce latency for high-volume scanning workloads, and optimize cost efficiency.
• We establish and enforce data quality, lineage, governance, and security controls to maintain traceability and integrity across the full document processing lifecycle.
• We partner with security and compliance teams to ensure scanned document data, extracted PII/PHI, and sensitive content are handled in line with regulatory requirements, encryption standards, and access controls.
• We lead and mentor a team of data engineers, setting coding standards, peer review practices, CI/CD workflows, and production engineering best practices.
