Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Nashville, Tennessee .
Overview
This role involves maintaining and optimizing building operations in a state facility, combining technical expertise with proactive problem-solving to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency.
This position combines hands-on technical expertise with proactive problem-solving to ensure facilities operate at peak performance while identifying opportunities for energy efficiency and cost savings. You'll work independently on complex HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems while collaborating with a dedicated team committed to operational excellence. Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, water chillers, and mechanical equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with pumps, motors, air handlers, automation controls, and electrical systems, performing repairs using industry-standard tools.
- Manage work orders efficiently using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and document all maintenance activities.
- Evaluate building systems to identify energy-saving opportunities and recommend operational improvements.
- Communicate regularly with team members, contractors, building occupants, and clients to coordinate maintenance and respond to service requests.
- Assist with general building maintenance tasks and plumbing repairs as needed, demonstrating versatility across multiple disciplines.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, laws, and regulations.
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of technical experience in building engineering, with expertise in at least one area such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment repair, or general maintenance
- Hands-on proficiency with commercial HVAC systems, including pumps, motors, air handlers, and automation controls, with ability to perform repairs in accordance with industry codes
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, web-based applications, and handheld electronic devices
- Valid state driver's license maintained throughout employment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
