Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Aug 17, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Neurosciences & ENT Unit position requiring NIHSS certification and comfort providing both step-down and acute level neurological care.Details\n \n 18-bed Intermediate Neurosciences & ENT Unit within a hospital setting, including 4 epilepsy monitoring beds\n Cares for patients with stroke, tumors, epilepsy, spine injury, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions, neurotrauma, CNS infections, and ENT malignancies\n Unit is currently operating under a pilot program with a mixed step-down and acute care patient population, with typical assignments of up to 5 patients\n Anticipated to transition back to a traditional step-down neurology model around November\n Night shift schedule, 7:00pm to 7:00am\n 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week\n Every other weekend required\n Every other holiday required\n No on-call responsibilities\n May be required to work in a charge or precepting role on a regular basis\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact) currently in hand\n Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)\n Minimum one year of nursing experience required\n Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required; BSN or MSN preferred\n Comfortable providing care in a dynamic environment spanning both acute and step-down neurological patient populations\n Additional Information\n \n Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, consistent with professional standards\n Perform bedside point of care testing as required by the patient care plan\n Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs and readiness\n Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and update the plan of care\n Assess and anticipate discharge planning needs for patients and families\n Participate in unit performance improvement activities and provide feedback to colleagues\n Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment\n Nationally recognized team delivering compassionate, collaborative care\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-732629.
