Assistant Director, Nursing - Per Diem/Contracts - FlexStaff

Oversees all areas of the hospital in absence of leadership. Maintains a professional environment that supports delivery of high-quality patient and family centered care.

Job Responsibility

• 1.Oversees and manages operations and patient care activities in all areas of facility in the absence of leadership.
• 2.Provides leadership to supervisors and team members by communicating and guiding toward achieving facility objectives.
• 3.Communicates, builds consensus, and guides departments toward achieving hospital objectives.
• 4.Promotes and maintains high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• 5.Maintains a professional work environment that fosters team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes.
• 6.Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice.
• 7.Provides direction and guidance to patient care unit team members and supervisors in clinical and operational concerns in the absence of leadership.
• 8.May provide input into performance reviews, hiring, promotions and corrective actions.
• 9.Serves as a role model for standards of professional practice (clinical, educational and leadership).
• 10.Monitors personnel, supply and equipment considerations in the absence of leadership.
• 11.Assesses hospital activity, patient activity and personnel resources in order to ensure equitable and appropriate staffing.
• 12.Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice.
• 13.Facilitates continual compliance with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards.
• 14.Demonstrates broad understanding of the regulatory environment in order to ensure hospital compliance with requirements.
• 15.Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health.
• 16.Identifies opportunities to initiate operational change within facility using evidence-based strategies and solutions.

Job Qualification

• Bachelors of Science Degree, required. Masters, preferred. (Bachelors or Master’s degree must be in nursing)
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required.
• Specialized certifications, as needed.
• 6-10 years of nursing experience and 5-7 years of leadership/management experience, required.
