Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

Location - Syracuse, NY

Duration - 16 Weeks

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support a high-acuity Adult Operating Room environment. The Surgical Tech will assist surgeons and perioperative teams during a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique, patient safety, and efficient operating room workflow.

The ideal candidate will have recent Level I or Level II trauma center experience and strong proficiency in multiple surgical specialties including trauma, orthopedic, vascular, ENT, and general surgery cases.

Shift Details

• Evening Shifts
• Combination of:
  • 8-hour shifts
  • 12-hour shifts
• Shift Times May Include:
  • 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Key ResponsibilitiesSurgical Assistance

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields during surgical procedures
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons during operations
• Anticipate surgical team needs throughout procedures
• Ensure proper surgical counts and sterile technique compliance
• Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments and supplies

Specialty Case Support

• Assist with a wide range of surgical procedures including:
  • Trauma
  • Orthopedic
  • General Surgery
  • ENT
  • Vascular
  • Gynecological procedures
  • Neurosurgery
  • Bariatric surgery
  • GU procedures
• Support high-acuity and trauma surgical cases efficiently

Patient Safety & Compliance

• Maintain infection prevention and sterile processing standards
• Assist with patient positioning and operating room preparation
• Ensure equipment functionality and surgical readiness
• Follow all hospital and perioperative safety protocols
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required
• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room experience
  • Experience must be within the last 4 years
• Recent experience in:
  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Teaching hospital or equivalent acute care facility
• Strong scrub experience required
• OB scrub experience required
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
