This position supports the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) on the St. Peter campus. MSOP is a residential, sex offense specific treatment program in a modified therapeutic community and secure setting that provides services to over 700 individuals who have been civilly committed for sexual offending. MSOP is a national leader in the industry and is committed to providing services on the leading edge of the comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of clients. The Minnesota Sex Offender Program serves people who are court ordered to receive sex offense specific treatment via the civil commitment process.
MSOP is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Residential Assistant Group Supervisor. In this role, you'll support the day-to-day operations of residential units and provide direct supervision to Security Counselors and Security Counselor Leads. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact staff development and program excellence and client rehabilitation. This role primarily assists in the overall operations of residential units while maintaining a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. Providing quality care within a safe and secure setting remains paramount.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist group supervisors in managing the daily operations of assigned residential units.
Provide oversight and leadership to the on-the-job training program, job coaches and trainees.
Assist in coordination and facilitation critical operational functions, including facility searches, Incident Command System (ICS) responses and drills, Command Post operations, and other safety and security initiatives.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Promote client participation in treatment and adherence to unit programming.
Support and uphold MSOP policies, procedures, post orders and expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must have:
Demonstrated leadership experience. Leadership experience can include (this is not an all-inclusive list):
Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead;
Completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g. Emerging Leaders Institute, L4, also known as Leadership Development Program or Aspiring Leaders Program);
A paid/unpaid position leading a program or chairing a committee (e.g. Employee Resource Group) - experience must include one (1) or more years of experience identifying issues, goals, strategic actions and 100+ hours per year time commitment.
High School diploma or GED AND
Have one (1) year supervisory experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment; OR
Have two (2) years lead work or professional experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment providing counseling, rehabilitative patient care, or direction of client care programs; OR
Have three (3) years paraprofessional experience in a therapeutic, residential or corrective environment providing counseling, rehabilitative patient care, or direction of client care programs.
*Note: A Bachelor's Degree in: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for six (6) months of experience OR one (1) year of any supervisory experience may be substituted for a maximum of six (6) months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory or lead experience working with patients/clients with sexual psychopathic personalities, sexually dangerous persons, mentally ill and dangerous or with developmental disabilities.
