Full responsibilities, required qualifications, and the apply link are listed in the description below.## Resume Keywords to IncludeMake sure these keywords appear in your resume to improve ATS scoringCPRORComplianceDutiesDevelopsSupervisesOverseesConductsSign up free to auto-tailor your resume with all these keywords and get a higher ATS score## Job Description### Duties* Develops and manages firefighter and emergency response training programs and certifications.* Supervises firefighting, rescue, hazardous material, and medical emergency operations.* Oversees fire station operations, personnel, equipment readiness, and safety compliance.* Conducts fire inspections, investigations, and safety reviews to identify hazards and ensure compliance.* Prepares training schedules, reports, operating procedures, and other fire protection documentation.* Supervises training staff and coordinates occupational health, safety, and emergency response programs.### RequirementsConditions of employment* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.* This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06 to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.* This position has a requirement to lift up to 100 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.* The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.* This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.* This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.* This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.* The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.* This position requires the incumbent to conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program.* This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.* This position requires you to work 60 hours per week (120 hours per pay period) to include weekends and holidays and may be subject to recall after normal tour of duty in cases of emergencies.* This is an obligated position to which an employee has statutory restoration rights. You will be asked to sign an agreement that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under RIF procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.### QualificationsWho May Apply: US CitizensIn order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is .Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Coordinating and conducting firefighter emergency response training programs; 2) Managing firefighting and emergency response operations during emergencies and hazardous incidents; AND 3) Conducting inspections, investigations, and safety reviews to ensure compliance with fire and safety standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).Selective Placement Factors: In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the following certificates certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M upon entry into this position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your certifications for verification.)* Airport Firefighter* Hazardous Materials Incident Commander* Fire Officer III* Fire Instructor III* Fire Inspector II* Incident Safety Officer (ISO) (Must obtain within 6 months of appointment to DoD fire service)* Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic or higher (Current NREMT or State)* American Heart CPRMaximum Entry Age (MEA) The MEA for Firefighters is 37. An employee originally hired into a covered position must be hired by the last day of the month he/she reaches 37.Maximum Reentry Age An employee who previously served on a covered position may be rehired past the MEA as long as he/she is able to complete 20 years of covered service by his/her mandatory retirement age. The maximum re-entry age for the individual is calculated by determining the total amount of time he/she has served on a covered position and subtracting that from age 57 if a firefighter. The employee's current age is compared to the calculated maximum re-entry age to determine if he/she can be rehired into the covered position.Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.### EducationThis job does not have an education qualification requirement.Additional information* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.* You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.* This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service.
