Title: ServiceNow CMDB DevOps Developer

About the role

You will build and automate VA's ServiceNow CMDB so it stays accurate, CSDM-aligned and trusted. You will own Discovery, Service Mapping and integrations that populate the CMDB, delivered through a DevOps pipeline with source control and automated testing. You will work in an Agile team with VA configuration managers, ITSM/ITOM process owners and cybersecurity staff.

Key responsibilities

• Design and extend CMDB classes, relationships and CI lifecycles in line with CSDM; configure IRE rules, reconciliation and CMDB Health dashboards.
• Remediate stale, duplicate and orphaned CIs and run CI data certification with CI owners.
• Configure and maintain Discovery, Service Mapping and MID Servers across on-premises and cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) environments.
• Build Service Graph Connectors and IntegrationHub/REST integrations with asset, endpoint, cloud and monitoring tools.
• Develop with JavaScript and the Glide API: Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts and Flow Designer flows.
• Deliver changes through Git source control and a CI/CD pipeline, with Automated Test Framework (ATF) suites as quality gates.
• Support platform upgrades, VA change and release management, and ATO continuous monitoring with accurate CI data.
• Write technical designs, SOPs and dashboards; demo work to VA product owners and mentor junior developers.

Required qualifications Experience and skills

• 7+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, including 4+ years on CMDB, Discovery and/or Service Mapping.
• Working knowledge of CSDM, IRE and CMDB Health.
• Strong JavaScript/Glide API skills; experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP and MID Servers.
• Git-based source control, CI/CD and ATF experience for ServiceNow delivery.
• Infrastructure knowledge across Windows, Linux, networking and cloud (AWS and/or Azure).
• Experience in Agile teams and ITIL-based ITSM processes.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field. Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior ServiceNow work for VA, DoD, DHS or another federal agency; an active VA Public Trust.
• Additional CIS credentials (ITSM, Hardware or Software Asset Management, Event Management).
• CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8140-aligned certification.
• Experience with ServiceNow DevOps Change Velocity or Instance Data Replication.
• Experience supporting ATO packages or NIST SP 800-53 continuous monitoring.
