Group Exercise Instructor

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead group exercise classes such as aerobics, strength training, yoga, Zumba, or other fitness programs in accordance with YMCA standards

- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation and motivation

- Demonstrate proper techniques and safety procedures to ensure participant safety

- Monitor and assess participant progress, providing modifications as needed

- Maintain equipment and ensure the cleanliness of the class area

- Promote YMCA programs and services to encourage member engagement

- Stay current with industry trends and certifications to enhance class offerings

Requirements:

 

Skills and Qualifications:

- Certified in group exercise instruction (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent)

- Proven experience leading group fitness classes

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to motivate and inspire participants of all fitness levels

- Knowledge of fitness safety standards and proper exercise techniques

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
