Resident Director, 2026 GLOBE Summer Programs (4570U) - GLOBE At the University of California, Berkeley, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive community where everyone can thrive. The GLOBE Center is hiring a Resident Director for the 2026 summer programs, responsible for living in the residence hall, supervising undergraduate Resident Assistants and Mentors (RAMs), designing and implementing programs, addressing student crises, managing the summer program budget, and shaping the residential culture. Responsibilities Manage 2–3 UC Berkeley undergraduate students serving as RAMs for each high‑school residential program. Oversee RAMs to ensure they meet their responsibilities, provide training, maintain proper adult–minor ratios during meal times, lead staff meetings, and conduct regular one‑on‑one check‑ins. Provide student oversight and crisis management, exercising good judgement to maintain privacy and confidentiality, and escalating high‑level issues to GLOBE staff. Lead program development and execution. Assist RAMs with weekday afternoon activities; plan, budget, and execute weekend programming in collaboration with GLOBE staff and RAMs. Programs are social and co‑curricular in nature. Serve as emergency point of contact for students during evenings and weekends, responding to urgent situations and referring matters to the Assistant Director as appropriate. Remain easily accessible during these periods. Assist with staff and program assessment efforts and make recommendations as needed. Required Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate effectively with groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Service orientation, active listening, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and organizational ability. Ability to remain calm in emergency situations. Meet International House regulations: 21 years of age or older. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. Background and Reporting Requirements This position requires fingerprinting and a background check.
