Full-Time Store Manager Trainee

ALDI is looking for passionate and driven individuals to join our Store Manager Trainee program. In this role you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to lead your own store, delivering outstanding customer service and creating a positive work environment for your team. You will collaborate with experienced leaders to ensure operational excellence and drive sales growth. Position Type: Full‑time | Estimated Hours: 45 per week | Starting Wage: $29.50 per hour | Year1 earning potential: up to $111,000 (inclusive of salary and bonus when applicable) Training Requirements and Location 6‑9+ month training program; overnight travel & lodging in Ames, IA for the entire duration. Reimbursement provided for business travel related expenses (mileage, travel, lodging, and meals) during training. Duties and Responsibilities Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports. Develop and implement action plans to improve operating results. Oversee resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with the district manager as needed. Interview candidates for store positions and provide recommendations to the district manager. Manage personnel, including recommending personnel for advancement and termination as appropriate. Communicate, cooperate and interact effectively with all levels of ALDI personnel, customers, third‑party vendors and business partners. Collaborate in resolving any issues that arise within the store to minimize potential liability. Lead, develop and supervise the team to achieve sales, engage our teams, satisfy customers and achieve consistent high performance. Understand and execute the overarching company strategy while modeling core values. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment and promote teamwork. Oversee and manage compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations. Train and develop store personnel to achieve maximum professional potential. Observe and evaluate employees’ performance and provide feedback and coaching. Ensure compliance with customer service guidelines and proper interaction with customers and co‑workers. Resolve concerns from store personnel and customers independently or elevate to the district manager as necessary. Model and supervise compliance with company policies and procedures. Ensure a safe working environment by identifying hazards and promoting proper ergonomics. Prepare, manage and revise weekly schedules to ensure accuracy. Ensure personnel adhere to expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling and cash handling policies to minimize losses. Maintain store zone standards and merchandising standards at all times. Act to improve operational results and implement plans to achieve store KPI goals and budgets. Attend and participate in meetings such as district weekly operations calls, monthly one‑to‑ones and training sessions. Plan and conduct meetings such as store team meetings, monthly management team meetings, training sessions and other company‑related events. Physical Demands Required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another. Required to place products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights. Required operation of equipment such as electric and manual hand jacks, floor scrubber and cardboard baler. Ability to work in varying temperatures, hot and cold (including outdoor temperatures and refrigerator/freezer environments). Job Qualifications Develop rapport, trust, and open communication to enhance direct reports’ performance. Work independently and within a team to provide effective leadership. Understand and apply management principles to achieve store goals and compliance expectations. Perform leadership and administrative duties with competence. Provide prompt and courteous customer service. Operate all store equipment efficiently to the standard. Facilitate group involvement during meetings. Maintain positive relationships with internal and external parties. Interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures. Communicate verbally and in writing effectively. Organize, prioritize and complete activities to maximize time. Establish and successfully execute plans and goals. Use ALDI‑provided technology as required. Handle and sell alcoholic beverages while meeting state and local requirements. Obtain ServSafe certification or other applicable state/local certifications as required. Education and Experience At least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience. Travel Full‑time Store Manager Trainees will train at multiple locations and must be flexible to travel within divisional requirements. Benefits 401(k) Plan and company 401(k) matching contributions.
