In this role, you will lead a team of professionals and collaborate with clients to develop strategies for resolving tax controversies and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. Additionally, you will interact directly with IRS and state tax authorities.Job Responsibilities Oversee and manage tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, penalties, collections, and litigation supportDevelop and implement strategies to resolve tax disputes efficiently and effectivelyRepresent clients in tax audits, appeals, and tax authority collections mattersConduct thorough research on tax laws and regulations to support tax positionsCollaborate with internal teams and external advisors to provide comprehensive tax solutionsStay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organizationManage multiple projects, ensuring timely and accurate completionProvide guidance and support to junior tax staff and assist in their professional developmentRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related disciplineMinimum of 7 years of experience in tax controversy with strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax lawsQualified to practice before the IRS (i.e., JD, CPA, or EA) Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and negotiation abilitiesPreferred Qualifications LLM or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplineExperience specifically with the IRS or state tax authorityArmanino is the brand name under which Armanino LLP and Armanino Advisory LLC, independently owned entities, provide professional services in an alternative practice structure in accordance with law, regulations, and professional standards. For Washington residents, Illinois residents, New York residents, and Southern California residents, the compensation range for this position: $200,100 - $272,600. For Northern California residents, the compensation range for this position: $209,200 - $285,000. Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location.
