Echo/Vascular Sonographer II
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
- Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
- Solves complex problems.
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
- Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
- Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
- Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
- Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains accurate and precise documentation.
- Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participates in quality and safety initiatives, and acting as a department super user.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions:
- Assist in transporting of patients.
- Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
Education/Training:
- Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
Licensure/Certification:
- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
- Must maintain one of the following:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography; or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
