Job Overview

Position Summary:

This position will directly support the Director of Aviation Maintenance. Duties include supervised management of the University of Dubuque aircraft fleet for the maintenance director, maintaining the aircraft overhaul slope on a daily basis, coordinating maintenance activities internally and externally through phone and email communications, monitoring aviation parts lists and stockage for use in daily maintenance activities, monitoring MSDS sheets to include storage of chemicals in the hangars, and keeping the director of maintenance informed of all aircraft maintenance issues and recommending maintenance activities. Works with dispatch in keeping an accurate, up-to-date list of flyable and non-flyable aircraft and where they are parked on the ramp, advise on when aircraft become available for use, and place aircraft back into service upon completion of maintenance. Will assist the maintenance director with other duties as required in support of aviation maintenance activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily maintenance overhaul slope updates and advise director of pending overhauls

  • Manage and coordinate flow of aircraft maintenance repairs

  • Track, order and manage inventory for aircraft parts, consumables, and shop supplies

  • Perform standard office duties such as filing, typing, answering phones, and distributing mail

  • Update and manage aircraft maintenance databases and records to ensure compliance and accuracy

  • Maintain accurate logs for aircraft maintenance activities, costs, and compliance for management and regulatory authorities

  • Maintain current hazardous material data sheets and OHSA compliance requirements

  • Coordinate internal and external maintenance activities for aircraft

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with the ability to manage complex data sheets and create well-formatted documents

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize daily and special projects

  • Ability to manage office activities

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Ability to remain seated at a workstation for extended periods of time

Qualifications:

  • Diploma Required; Associate Degree Preferred

  • Office management experience

  • Microsoft Office programs skills

  • Mechanical aptitude preferred
