Contract | Night Shift | Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday) | Every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Emergency Department serving a Level I Trauma Center, Burn Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Manage a diverse patient population ranging from minor to severe diagnoses, including trauma, burn, stroke, geriatric patients with complex co-morbidities, and some pediatric cases
• Administer and monitor all common ER drips and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4, with flexibility as volumes require; Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) area may have up to 6 patients
• Collaborate with charge nurses, ER techs, and respiratory therapy staff; RT manages all ventilator and respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Chart using Epic; floating is not typical but may occasionally involve helping hands only due to Epic charting requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TNS (Trauma Nurse Specialist) certification preferred
• Prior experience in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department setting
• Familiarity with trauma, burn, and stroke patient care protocols
• Experience with Epic electronic health records
