Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Emergency Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience License: Valid multi-state or State Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: BLS certified through AHA; PALS Description: The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. Utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures is essential for monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. The Registered Nurse will complete assessments and individualize plans of care within established guidelines. Carrying out nursing care with consideration for cultural and psychosocial factors and ages of patients is crucial. Organizing, prioritizing, and performing nursing skills appropriate for the patient population is fundamental. The nurse anticipates patient and unit needs effectively. Demonstrating a sound knowledge base in the bio-psychosocial model is required. Delegation and effective communication are vital components of this role. Professional judgment in response to changing patient and unit situations must be demonstrated. Documentation of the nursing process and care on the appropriate record is necessary. Data must be recorded concisely, consistently, accurately, and legibly. Utilizing correct medical terminology and abbreviations is essential. Problems and progress toward outcomes must be addressed according to policy. Facilitating patient teaching and discharge is part of the responsibilities. Timely and appropriate referrals must be made as needed. Resources must be utilized in planning and presenting patient education, considering age and cultural psychosocial factors. Collaboration with other disciplines is encouraged as appropriate. Supporting unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities is expected. Attendance at mandatory in-services and meeting educational standards is required. Accurate completion of variance reports is necessary. Independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field is essential. The role involves direct work with patients and internal and external customers. Collaboration with healthcare professionals and staff is required.
