What You'll Do

• Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations in PCU units
• Titrate cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor drips including medications like Esmolol, Cardene, Amiodarone, Dopamine, and Levophed
• Manage chest tubes, central lines, drains, and wounds
• Support patients with respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, Sepsis, post-surgical care, and more
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately utilizing EMR systems (Meditech Expanse)
• Adhere to hospital protocols and maintain safety standards

What You Need

• Current licensure/certification: Louisiana RN, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• LVAD certification preferred (for 2W unit)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU RN experience in acute care settings
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
• Skills in titrating cardiac and vasoactive medications, central line management, and wound care
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills

Required support skills include managing cardiac drips and frequent patient monitoring, with preferred experience in venous sheath management and temporary pacemakers.

About the Assignment

Join a diverse and traveler-friendly team within a leading facility in Shreveport, LA. The unit features a 24-25 bed setup across Cardiac Stepdown and Medical Stepdown units, caring for patients with complex conditions such as post-CABG, lung surgery, CVA, and respiratory failure. You'll be supported by a full roster of support staff, including CNAs, RTs, and unit secretaries, with a focus on high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment. Orientation includes 2 days of hospital overview and 2 shifts on the unit, with no on-call responsibilities. You'll work every other weekend and major holidays, with flexible time-off requests up to 7 days (full-week RTO requires extension).
