Summary of Duties As an employee working within the Stabilization and Crisis Unit (SACU), you will be a part of a program that provides 24‑hour residential care to Oregonians with intellectual or developmental disabilities, often with co‑occurring mental health diagnoses whose support needs exceed those offered by other community‑based residential programs. SACU provides development and support to assist individuals in safely transitioning back to their home community. We model positive attitudes while offering assistance with access to health and medical supports, psychological services, emotional and behavioral support, and educational supports. SACU staff also provide life skills training, recreational opportunities, and community integration. SACU is dedicated to providing the support necessary to maintain the quality of life, achieve the highest possible level of independence, and promote social opportunities for the individuals served and their communities. Support the management of the operation of a three, four, or five bed home. Supervise direct care and behavioral support staff. Lead the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP) for each resident. Coordinate services with consultants and other service providers, and serve as liaison with parents, guardians, neighbors, and county case managers. Ensure the home is operated per the Comprehensive 24‑hour Residential Services for Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities OAR (Chapter 411, Division 325). Ensure ISP for each individual and give input to the ISP process for each individual. Ensure the health and well‑being of individuals by following all doctor orders, nursing orders, and issuing medications per prescriptions. Minimum Qualifications A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. Three years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; or A bachelor's degree in a related field. Essential Attributes Experience supervising employees, including hiring or recommending hiring, training employees, assigning and reviewing work, providing employees with feedback on performance, providing oversight of operations, and handling disciplinary problems and grievances. Experience communicating clearly and cross‑culturally in writing, directly, or virtually. Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals, family members, advocates, and guardians from varied and diverse backgrounds in situations involving complex issues and demanding deadlines. Management experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness in a 24‑hour residential setting or similar environment. Experience working with licensing requirements and conducting quality assurance reviews. Experience with general computer operation and proficient use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Training and Certification Requirements Three‑week paid in‑person training at central office in Salem. First Aid/CPR Certification, including completing compressions in a kneeling position. Oregon Intervention System (OIS) Certification, including proficiency in using approved restraints. Medication Administration Certification, including competency in completing doctor's orders, proper medication administration, and emergency procedures. Working Conditions Must have a valid license to drive and maintain an acceptable driving record to transport individuals in state vans or vehicles. Work environments include a 24‑hour group home, community settings such as stores, restaurants, medical offices, and shopping malls, and sometimes outdoor inclement weather settings. Work schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays, with a minimum of two additional weekdays, varying with staff meetings, training, vacations, and shift coverage. Typical base schedule may be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and on scheduled workdays, but may vary. Physical capability to interact with combative, unpredictable, argumentative, and aggressive individuals who may become a danger to themselves or others on a daily basis. Physical capability to engage and maintain Oregon Intervention System (OIS) approved restraints for up to one hour, as per OIS standards of physical skill training. Frequent daily lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds (e.g., transferring, positioning, and moving individuals; moving furniture or appliances; yard maintenance equipment). Frequent daily squatting, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Physical capability to work an additional part or whole shift to meet staffing requirements, and to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. Physical capability to transport individuals in a variety of vehicles, including wheelchair‑accessible vans, minivans, and standard vehicles. Physical capability to perform CPR/First Aid techniques to obtain certifications. Physical capability to accompany individuals on hikes, walks, bicycles, swimming, and other physical activities. Daily exposure to bodily fluids and other biohazards, as well as household cleaning agents (sometimes industrial strength). Background Checks and Requirements If selected as a finalist, a criminal history and background check will be conducted; adverse results may lead to disqualification. Background checks will be conducted within three days of hire, following I-9 and E‑Verify procedures. All applicants will be subject to drug testing for narcotics, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances. Driving record must meet the qualifications of the ODHS SACU Driving Policy, with any misdemeanor or felony traffic offense within the last 24 months considered unacceptable.
