Senior Mechanical Engineer

Prevail Recruiting

About the Opportunity

Prevail Recruiting is partnering with an innovative energy hardware company seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and bring complex mechanical products into production.

You'll work across mobile power and wind energy systems, combining mechanical design and analysis with prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing.

This is not a CAD-only role. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys designing at the computer just as much as getting into the shop, building prototypes, solving problems, and improving real hardware.

What You'll Do

  • Own mechanical product development from initial requirements and concept through design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing release.
  • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using SolidWorks, applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, and sound mechanical design principles.
  • Personally participate in prototype builds, testing, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
  • Apply FEA, structural, thermal, and vibration analysis to guide engineering decisions and validate results through physical testing.
  • Design for manufacturability and assembly, collaborating directly with machinists, technicians, fabricators, and suppliers.
  • Drive engineering changes and support production readiness, ensuring designs translate into reliable, manufacturable products.

What You'll Bring

  • Senior-level mechanical engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of physical products or major subsystems from concept through production.
  • Strong SolidWorks, 3D CAD, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing drawing experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical hardware—not just designing it.
  • Working knowledge of FEA, structural analysis, thermal considerations, vibration, and mechanical durability.
  • Practical manufacturing experience involving CNC machining, sheet metal, weldments, fabrication, or additive manufacturing.
  • The ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and thrive in a lean, fast-moving engineering environment.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in energy equipment, industrial machinery, aerospace, automotive/EV, robotics, semiconductor equipment, or other complex electromechanical products is highly relevant.

We especially value engineers who enjoy hands-on building, fabrication, repairs, or personal technical projects outside their core responsibilities.

Why Join?

Take real ownership of meaningful hardware development at a growing energy technology company. You'll work closely with engineering leadership and stay involved from the first design through the final build.

If you want to design it, build it, test it, fix it, and see it go into production, this opportunity is for you.
