Polysomnographic Tech

Responsibilities Performs polysomnograms, split studies, CPAP Titration, multiple sleep latency testing on adults and pediatric populations. Performs technical interpretations (scoring) of sleep disorder laboratory procedures by hand assessment and computer analysis. Researches patients’ histories for neurological/psychiatric disorders. Prepares patients and equipment for testing; explains procedures; measures patients’ heads; applies electrodes. Edits and files tests performed; inputs to digital archive/structured report system. Provides documentation for each procedure; maintains records. Complies with quality assurance standards for the Sleep Disorder Laboratory. Records charges. Ensures accuracy in the medication process, including transport, storage, security, and/or administration of medications to include IV solutions. The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age‑specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Work Experience Two years of college-level coursework including basic science coursework and a minimum of one year of clinical healthcare experience required; associate degree in a healthcare‑related field preferred. Candidates with experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), EEG technician, cardiovascular technician, or other direct patient care clinical background are encouraged to apply. Prior sleep lab experience or completion of a formal polysomnographic training program preferred, but not required for candidates with relevant clinical healthcare experience. Candidates without prior polysomnography experience must successfully complete an approved sleep technology education pathway and competency‑based orientation program within an established timeframe while working under the guidance and mentorship of experienced polysomnographic staff. Demonstrated ability to learn and perform polysomnographic procedures, patient monitoring, and operation of sleep laboratory equipment required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential or eligibility to obtain registration preferred. Current CPR certification required; ACLS certification preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
