Senior Mechanical Engineer We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in Sunrise, FL or Tampa, FL. The role will lead mechanical design for complex sector projects—healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and commercial high‑rise—through the full project lifecycle from design to close‑out. Responsibilities Lead and manage the mechanical design on multiple projects. Serve as the primary mechanical engineering point of contact, attending client and project meetings. Provide technical expertise for mechanical systems such as air distribution, hydronic systems, automatic temperature controls, and cooling/heating load calculations. Perform construction administration, project management, and quality control review of project designs and documentation. Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project budgets, and monitor compliance with time and schedule deadlines. Plan and obtain additional work authorizations for scope changes. Account for profitability of the projects managed. Schedule and select major equipment. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals on multiple concurrent projects. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data integrity, documentation, training, monitoring, and record retention. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in engineering with prior mechanical design experience. Engineer in Training certification. Project experience from design through final construction close‑out. Experience designing HVAC systems and automatic temperature controls for a range of commercial systems. Excellent communication and interdisciplinary engineering skills. Hands‑on knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies. Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs. Proficient in applying mechanical engineering principles, practices, processes, and application to project work‑related issues. Preferred Qualifications Experience in complex sectors such as healthcare and/or labs. Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations. Experience with AHCA. Essential professional licensure/certification. Experience managing small to mid‑size projects. 40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
