FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER (FULL AND PART TIME)

Job Summary Full‑time and part‑time Food Service Worker/Cashier at Ascension Alexian Brothers, 800 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. Salary is $16.00 to $17.50 per hour. The position requires open availability, rotating weekends and holidays, and prior food‑service experience is preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring designated ingredients. Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards. Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment. Store foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food‑safety and rotation procedures. Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils. Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements. Use approved food recipes and production standards to maintain proper quality, serving temperatures, and portion control. Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service. Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service‑oriented manner. Relay relevant information to supervisor. Perform sales transactions; enter sales into the cash register to ensure accurate records. Provide change, accept declining‑balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment, and issue receipts. Follow standard procedures for issuing cash refunds. Maintain cash drawer compliance with overage/shortage standards. Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while keeping the service area clean. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Prior food‑service experience preferred. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
